ITINERARY
Day 0:
Arrival & Pre-Trek Briefing – Arusha
If you have arranged airport transfers with AM Adventure, our professional driver will warmly welcome you at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport and transfer you comfortably to your hotel in Arusha.
We recommend arriving at least one day before the trek begins. Later in the day, our experienced mountain guide will conduct a detailed pre-trek briefing at your hotel. During this session, we will:

Overnight: Hotel in Arusha
Day 1 :
Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut
After breakfast, depart Arusha for Momella Gate (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes). Upon arrival, we complete park formalities before beginning the trek with an armed ranger escort.
The trail passes through open grasslands and montane forest, offering breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the beautiful Momella Lakes. Along the way, you may encounter wildlife such as:
Bushbucks
Cape buffaloes
Giraffes
Warthogs
We continue trekking to Miriakamba Hut, located in a scenic forest setting.
Elevation: 1,500m (4,921ft) to 2,500m (8,202ft)
Distance: 6 km (3.5 miles)
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Overnight: Miriakamba Hut
Day 2 :
Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut
Today’s trek follows a steeper path along the ridge of the saddle between Meru’s peaks. As you ascend, enjoy stunning views of:

Little Meru
You may also encounter Cape buffaloes and black-and-white colobus monkeys.
Upon arrival at Saddle Hut, enjoy a hot meal and rest. In the afternoon, we take a short acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,810m) before returning to Saddle Hut for the night.

Distance: 6 km (3.5 miles)
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Overnight: Saddle Hut
Day 3 :
Saddle Hut – Socialist Peak – Miriakamba Hut
Summit day begins shortly after midnight. After tea and a light snack, we start the final ascent to Socialist Peak (4,566m).
This section is steep and challenging, crossing gravel paths and rocky cliffs. It is the most physically and mentally demanding part of the trek — but also the most rewarding.
At sunrise, you will reach the summit and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of:

The Ash Cone
Mount Kilimanjaro rising above the clouds
You may also spot mountain reedbucks and klipspringers along the rocky ridges.
After celebrating at the summit, we descend back to Miriakamba Hut for rest.

Distance: 19 km (12 miles)
Hiking Time: 10–12 hours
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Overnight: Miriakamba Hut
Day 4:
Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha
After breakfast, we continue the descent to Momella Gate using the scenic southern route, offering new views and landscapes. Along the way, we pass the impressive Fig Tree Arch.
Upon arrival at the gate, your AM Adventure vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel in Arusha (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes).

Distance: 14 km (8.5 miles)
